Carrier Aggregation Explained: How CAT6 CPE Delivers 300Mbps

Carrier Aggregation (CA) is the technology that enables LTE-Advanced and CAT6 performance. By combining multiple LTE carriers (each typically 20MHz), CA effectively increases the available bandwidth — similar to adding lanes to a highway.

CAT6 devices support 2-carrier aggregation (2CC CA), achieving theoretical peak rates of 300Mbps downlink. This requires both network-side CA configuration and CPE with appropriate baseband support.

In practice, Honlly’s CAT6 CPE devices demonstrate 180-280Mbps sustained throughput in well-provisioned networks, representing a 60-80% improvement over non-CA CAT4 devices in the same coverage areas.
